Wearing Uggs in winter, waterproof or not.

‘Uggly’ or not, the Ugg boot trend is still strong on the street and in the playground and at college and in fact everywhere you look. Perfect for this wintery weather we’ve been having, the furry Uggs come out in force and women and children (and men) across the country are pulling on their favourite Uggs in various styles and colours and feeling glad they’ve got them because there’s nothing worse than not having the right kind of footwear for snowy weather and having a pair of boots that are made for wearing in the snow that actually look great too is an added bonus.

Having said that though, are Uggs actually waterproof? Do they have a decent tread on the soles to keep you from slipping and sliding all over the place on the icy surfaces? The answer is probably not but for most people, its not the functionality they buy them for, it’s the way they look and the way they feel on your feet and the fact that they can be worn with jeans tucked in, pulled out, with skirts, dresses, tights, jeggings, leggings and capes, gillets and all manner of furry creations, basically, they look great with everything and this is what makes them the number one footwear choice for literally thousands of women across the country. It really doesn’t matter to them whether the traction is great on a pair of Uggs, that’s a chance they’ll take if it means they can look good in a great pair of comfy boots.

It has never really been about how useful they are in the snow and cold weather and we’ve always known that. If women wore shoes because they were purely functional and kept feet clean and dry, we would never have the likes of Jimmy Choo and Gucci and the host of other sexy shoe makers that have women going weak at the knees when they see the gorgeous styles of the most delicate shoes with the thinnest stiletto heel and the prettiest detailing. Women love shoes, we love sexy shoes and gorgeous boots and given half a chance we will always go for style over substance when it comes to buying footwear. It’s impossible to explain but shoes will always be a girls best friend, forget diamonds! Ask any girly girl and she will tell you that you can never have enough pairs of shoes or boots and whatever it is that Uggs have that have made them the favourite boot for more than the past five or six years, women love it and will continue to come back for more as long as Uggs keep them coming!
